Money, who doesn't like money? I like the benefits that come from having money my favorite one is to have peace of mind of future bills that might arise and be prepared with the amount of money. But my attitude twords money is that is something that generatesl wealth and needs to keep in circulataion. Money is good but it shoudn't take over our lives and specially not over our families, because the biggest riches we can have in this life is out family.
Don’t you just love when Jim Richie talks? I just identify myself and my early experiences with every word that he talks, and look forward to the ones I haven’t experienced. At the same time, I have I big list of books that he recommended to read.
All the other assigned videos were the big questions to this week’s theme who is Measuring the cost and for me is the cost of success in the entrepreneur path, what fuels us, our passion to do what we do and what is the cost and impact of our daily life, our private time and family relations. Either we involve them in the business and if so, how much and when? There are many questions that I felt during this week, but every time I listen to Jim Richie talking about his entrepreneurial journey then answers start to come. Because if some entrepreneur comes and talks to me and he or she doesn’t have a spouse and children then that doesn’t count for me.
In this case, Jim Ritchie talks greatly about his wife and her role in all this success and the key part that she plays every day. His determination to put his family first and his advice to everyone to do so. Also, he mentions three great books that have played a great deal in guiding them in this journey, the first book is the 6-step success formula, the second Terrific Marriage Partner and the third one is Principles from “The richest man in Babylon”. All this along with how we can become financially fit and his way to invest and save money to retire younger. He susggest a budget in every area we need from eclesiastical, domestic and family expenses, etc. But he mentions to pay ourselves first, because later with that money we can make investments.
At the end for me, the formula to succeed is measured in our values and our family. We need to learn to balance our life, yes is hard but not impossible if we have a clear vision of what we want to accomplish and work in teamwork with our spouse and inform children what we are doing and why. I want to end this week’s entry with Corey Bell's words “If I believe I can do it, I am going to try.”
This week I had the opportunity to listen Randy Pausch Last Lecture and he mentions about when he was little his family went to Disneyland and he had this dream to create things like that. But what I think help him to achieved those dreams are his parents that didn’t stop him for dreaming. The video mentions that his parents let him write in the walls mathematical formulas and those are still on the walls until this day. He asked all the parents a special favor that is their kids want to paint their room, please let them. This request could have come pretty handy if my parents would have listened to this request earlier. One summer me and my sisters wanted to paint our room in pastel colors and my parents didn’t let us and the following summer my parents went on a business trip and we painted our room by the time they came back, there is a saying that said “Is better to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission” and that is what we did. Going back to childhood dreams, I think those ...
